Complete step-by-step installation instructions for MetaTrader 5

Before you begin: Ensure you have MetaTrader 5 installed and a valid license key from your purchase email.


Step 1: Download the Package

  1. Check your email for the order confirmation (subject: “Your Quantum Edge Trader License”)
  2. Click the download link in the email
  3. Save QuantumEdgeTrader_Package.zip to your Downloads folder
  4. Extract the ZIP file (right-click > Extract All)

Package contents:

  • QuantumEdgeNM_V3_1_LICENSE.mq5 – Main Expert Advisor file
  • QuantumEdgeNM_Forex.set – Forex preset configuration
  • QuantumEdgeNM_Gold.set – Gold (XAUUSD) preset
  • QuantumEdgeNM_BTC.set – Bitcoin preset
  • QuantumEdgeNM_PropFirm.set – Prop firm challenge preset

Step 2: Locate MT5 Data Folder

  1. Open MetaTrader 5
  2. Go to File > Open Data Folder
    Alternatively: Press Ctrl+Shift+D
  3. A File Explorer window will open showing the MT5 data directory

Typical path:

  • Windows: C:Users[YourName]AppDataRoamingMetaQuotesTerminal[BrokerID]MQL5

Step 3: Copy EA Files

  1. In the MT5 Data Folder window, navigate to MQL5 > Experts
  2. Copy QuantumEdgeNM_V3_1_LICENSE.mq5 into the Experts folder
  3. Also copy all .set files to MQL5 > Presets folder (create if missing)

Step 4: Refresh MT5 Navigator

  1. In MT5, press F4 to open MetaEditor
  2. In MetaEditor, click Refresh or press F5
  3. Close MetaEditor
  4. Restart MetaTrader 5 completely (close and reopen)

Alternative method: Right-click in Navigator > Expert Advisors > Refresh


Step 5: Verify EA Appears in Navigator

  1. In MT5, open Navigator panel (Ctrl+N if hidden)
  2. Expand Expert Advisors section
  3. You should see QuantumEdgeNM_V3_1_LICENSE listed

If EA doesn’t appear:

  • Verify file was copied to correct folder
  • Check file extension is .mq5 (not .mq5.txt)
  • Restart MT5 again
  • Check for compile errors in MetaEditor

Step 6: Configure MT5 Settings

Before attaching the EA, enable required settings:

Enable AutoTrading

  1. In MT5 toolbar, click the AutoTrading button (should turn green)

After attaching the EA, you should see a visual panel in the top-left corner showing:

  • Balance/Equity: Current account values

Check Experts Journal

  1. Open Toolbox panel at bottom (Ctrl+T)
